I was wondering how long it would take for some religious fanatic to say it. “I don’t know how much God has to do…. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’” I thought it would be some Islamic fundamentalist saying it was God’s punishment for us killing Ben Laden. It wasn’t it was a fundamentalist of another persuasion … Michele Bachmann.
Gov. Perry and the rest of the Republican presidential candidates and all those Fundamentalist Christian Tea Party types who are always touting their devotion to the Constitution need to become educated about the Constitution.

The Treaty of Tripoli (Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary) was the first treaty concluded between the United States of America and Tripoli, signed at Tripoli on November 4, 1796 and at Algiers (for a third-party witness) on January 3, 1797. It was submitted to the Senate by President John Adams, receiving ratification unanimously from the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797 and signed by Adams, taking effect as the law of the land on June 10, 1797: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominionism

The treaty was a routine diplomatic agreement but has gained attention because the English version included a clause about religion in America:[3]
“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.”
the Treaty of Tripoli (1797)  Article 11:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli

Again
the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; …[37]

This treaty, drafted by George Washington’s administration was ratified in 1797, thus becoming U.S. law, per Article VI-2 of the US Constitution:

Article VI 2nd paragraph reads as follows:

“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and

all Treatiesmade, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwith-standing.” http://www.earlyamerica.com/earlyamerica/freedom/constitution/text.html

People should really know what they’re talking about before they start spouting off.

Took a break from all the Genealogy research and have been exploring
and learning Google+. If you like facebook your going to love Google+.
It’s like facebook but with better control of the post you see by your
friends (you can sort them by circles of friends and see only the ones
from one circle at a time); Like Skype but without the limitation of
one person to a call, Like twitter but without the 140 character
limitation. But its by invitation only right now since it’s still in
testing.

Did you know that once you put something on the internet it stays there forever? There was a lot of news recently about privacy in the digital age we now live in.  Back in 2002 I had written a piece on that subject for a web site in England.  I thought it might be relevant [...]

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."- George Santayana (1863-1952)
"History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme a lot."- Mark Twain
"We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare;
now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true."-Robert Wilensky
