Ok, so the Dems won the election. I look on this as a plus. Hopefully there will be changes in Washington, but I am not holding my breath. Most of the members of Congress (Republican AND Democrat) are millionaires and do not really understand the lives of ordinary Americans. None the less, things can not be any worse than they have been.

We just got back a week ago from a visit to Toronto, ON. We were there during Thanksgiving and attended
Thanksgiving dinner with the Democrats Abroad chapter in Toronto. Dinner was held at the George Brown College Ontario Hostelry Institute School of Hospitality.

The students at the institute did all the work and provided a traditional Thanksgiving meal and were given a resounding round of applause for there work.

In case your wondering how two visitors from Las Vegas got invited to attend this event, it was the result of the very political principle of “It’s not what you know but who you know that counts.” That is, the wife and I are the in-laws of the guest speeker for the event. That of course would be the University of Toronto Professor of Political Science, Dr. Renan Levine.

Here are some more pictures from the event.  [slideshow=1]

Have you seen the adds being put on by AARP?  You know, the ones that say “Don’t Vote”?  Well not voting isn’t the thing to do, but that’s not what they’re telling us to do anyway.  What they’re say is “Don’t vote until you know where the candidates stand on the issues.”

Well, I did that, I found out where the candidates stand on the issues and as a result I decided I wasn’t going to vote for any of them.

Fortunately, here in Nevada for all the state wide and Congressional races we have the choice on the ballet to vote for “Non of these Candidates” and that is who I voted for. ( Oh yea, we also have early voting and I’ve already voted.)   Where this was not a choice but there was a 3rd party choice on the ballet, I voted for the 3rd party candidate.

Wouldn’t it be great if neither the Republicans  nor the Democrats won control of the Congress!

If you have the choice, “Don’t vote”  for either parties candidate for any office.

It’s not always easy to tell from what the Gleaner writes where he stands, but it is clear from this post that he doesn’t think very highly of Mr Gibson.  Personaly I’m not very happy to see Democrats slinging mud at each other, The Republicans will scoop up the same mud and use it in November no mater which one of them [...]

GW seems to think that an increase in corporate profits (and thus the compensation of all his CEO friends) compensates for the huge deficits his administration has been running.   Well that just ain’t so!  The whole bases of the GDP is meaningless.  The true measure of the economic condition of the nation is the standard [...]

Actually it’s not his disappointment, it is that of the Democratic Party.  His decision today to not support his primary opponent should he win confirms what I have suspected for some time about “good-old Joe.”  He’s not really a Democrat at all, he’s just “Joe” and all that’s important to him is himself.  I hate [...]
